television monitor and come in different types.
Some computers are all-in-one systems and you do not need to buy
another monitor to go with the system. The Apple iMac and
laptops are some examples.
What do you need to look for when
choosing a monitor?:
- Size is important. Monitors come in various sizes similar to
how televisions are sold. Monitor size range from 15 inches to
21 inches depending on the type that you may want to buy.
- The monitor may be flat screen or a regular type. Flat
screens give a better display than the regular screen.

Keyboard
This is one of the main
components you will be using very often and you should make sure
that you get a good one from the outset. The hallmark of a good
keyboard is that it is very responsive.
The keys should respond readily when you press them and there
should not be much lag time between you pressing the keys and
getting a response.

Mouse
A computer mouse is a very important device to have and is
essential for today's modern computing needs.
A mouse is basically a pointing device that allows you to select
items on the screen as well performing other function.
The mouse comes in various options such as USB or PS2. The
standard is PS2 and they almost always work with any computer
that you build or buy.
Additionally, you will hear the terms Intellimouse, Marble
Mouse and Microsoft Mouse.
Do not get too caught up with these terms. Just choose a
mouse you feel comfortable with. If you want to change after
you have experimented a bit then I suggest that you do so.
