Buying A Used Computer

You can limit the amount of risk associated with buying a cheap computer if you can find a good deal on a used system that is refurbished and recertified.

Refurbished and recertified computers are checked to make sure they work.

Repairs are made as needed and a computer that falls in this category usually comes with limited warranty.

You will find some really cheap  and reliable computer systems and components at
TigerDirect's overstock, recertified sale and also at Computers4SURE

Depending on what your computing needs are, you can find great deals in the high $200s or low $300s.

If you are really serious, you can find computers that include preinstalled software. Indeed this would be a bonus because you would not have to spend extra money buying software.

When buying refurbished systems, make sure that they will be able to be upgraded at a later date. Your computing needs may change and you may need to install a more modern graphics card for example.

You would want to buy a system which is as close to the Pentium 4 class as possible, with at least an 8X rating for the graphics card. The advantage of this is that you will be able to upgrade at a later date without much of a problem

If you are using the system for playing games, you would need to buy a computer that has as much memory as possible and one that accepts at least the DDR memory module.

Now that you have identified where to find some of the best deals, it is time to take the plunge.  Good luck!
